FillWaves® is a Temporarily Flowable Self-Compacting Material (TFSM) specifically designed for construction applications where flowability, uniformity, and sustainability are essential. It is composed of excavated soil, binders, water, and the FillWaves® compound (FWC), which primarily consists of naturally occurring highly plastic clay minerals and optional additives. One of its key advantages is the ability to directly utilize excavated soil from construction sites, significantly reducing the need for transporting external materials. This not only minimizes CO₂ emissions associated with soil transportation but also promotes the reuse of locally available resources, aligning with sustainable construction practices.
FillWaves® is highly adaptable and can be tailored to meet specific project requirements. Depending on its formulation, it is particularly suitable for backfilling trenches for water and wastewater pipelines, electricity cables, and telecommunication line.
FillWaves® is either pre-mixed in a stationary FillWaves® mixing plant and then transported to the construction site by a concrete mixer truck or mixed on-site using a mobile, usually truck-based, in-situ FillWaves® generator. After placement, FillWaves® sets and hardens, achieving the desired properties over time.
FillWaves® serves as an alternative to conventional methods for backfilling pipeline trenches and excavation pits for fittings and station installations, particularly in challenging and confined backfilling conditions. Its flowability allows FillWaves® to spread evenly, creating a uniform and homogeneous bedding for the installation systems. This reduces the likelihood of soil settling or swelling, which is a common issue with conventional compaction methods.
Depending on its formulation, FillWaves® exhibits various properties, making it especially suitable for backfilling utility trenches for water, wastewater, electricity cables, and telecommunication lines.

Excavated soil has to be transported from the construction site and suitable backfilling soil has to be used and mechanically compacted.

homogonous backfill with similar properties to
the surrounding soil.
The pipe is enveloped by the FillWaves® with no gap between the pipe and the backfill.
Compaction and transportation are eliminated
from the backfilling process, leading to a lower
carbon footprint and a more economic and
environmentally friendly solution.
